Waste Management (Packaging) Regulations
Ireland EPR — Waste Management (Packaging) Regulations. The regulatory authority is EPA Ireland, operating through the Repak system.
All producers, importers, online sellers, and fulfillment service providers placing packaged goods on the Ireland market must register with a PRO and fulfill EPR obligations. Non-Ireland sellers must appoint an Authorized Representative.
Repak is the sole approved compliance scheme for packaging in Ireland. All producers placing packaged products on the Irish market must either join Repak or self-comply (rare in practice). Repak is approved by the EPA (Environmental Protection Agency):
Registration: repak.ie — EPA approved
Reporting & Deadlines: Annual by March 28. Packaging data must be reported by material type and weight. Reports are submitted through Repak Portal.
Maximum Fine: €15,000,000. Non-compliance with Ireland EPR regulations can result in fines, marketplace listing deactivation, and legal consequences. Amazon and other marketplaces may independently verify compliance and suspend non-compliant sellers.
Major producers (>10t packaging) must register with Repak
If you sell on Amazon, eBay, or other marketplaces and ship products to Ireland, you are responsible for EPR compliance in this market. The "pay on behalf" model is ending — marketplaces will no longer handle this for you. Register now to avoid listing deactivation.
ekoniq handles your complete EPR registration and compliance. We take care of registration, reporting, and ongoing obligations so you can focus on selling.
